Darkness: The True Enemy

Darkness

Character Lore

“…saw Darkness. But not in the abstract, not like the Speaker talks about it. Real, flesh and blood Darkness standing before me. It wore a Fallen Captain like he was a suit of clothes. It laughed at me. Reached out a hand. And then I was gone, off to somewhen else.” —File 48743 from Praedyth’s Ghost”

Welcome back guardians. Today I wanted to talk about the real war in Destiny and that is the battle between the Light and the Darkness. I also want to try and explain why the Darkness is pursuing the Light or rather wants the Light eliminated. Whilst the Cabal clearly impose a major threat to the City in Destiny 2, by destroying the Tower, I do think they are overshadowed by a greater war between the Light and the Dark.

Thank you to AnonPig for sending me some information regarding the description of the Darkness. And as usual, thank you to brandon mccamey for providing the artwork seen at the beginning of this video. If you would like to pick up poster versions of any of his work, see the links below.

This is myelin games and I hope you enjoy this latest Destiny Lore episode.

Eris Morn Leaves

Eris Morn Leaves

Character Lore

She stopped, and beneath the gauze on her face all three eyes closed. For a moment she allowed herself to feel the dark tears that flowed, unending, down her face. The eyes reopened, and her strength blazed in the darkness.

“I must find a new path through the night. The Hive are vast, and ancient. A power from far beyond our realm. If we are ever truly to face them, ever truly to put an end to their hate, I must step beyond the safety of the City.”

Welcome back guardians, today once again, we are covering one of the new grimoire cards released with the Age of Triumph, Ghost Fragment: Eris Morn. It has been a busy week covering all of the new Lore released with Age of Triumph, which includes a video on Dredgen yor’s identity, Fallen Allies and if you have you know, a spare hour, a detailed lore analysis on the new trailer. I hope you have been enjoying the more frequent uploads.

Brandon McCamey provided the artwork for this video, be sure to check out his youtube channel as he just released another 3D mobile wallpaper for Destiny 2! I will make this the first link in the description.

Also stay tuned to twitch, as on Saturday I will be doing a 20 hour live stream to say thank you for all of the support over the last 6 months, and I am also celebrating being accepted as a PhD student.

This is myelin games and I hope you enjoy this latest Destiny Lore episode.

Dredgen Yor’s Identity Confirmed

Dredgen Yor

Character Lore

And while he recounted once more the events of his time in the shadows he took his Rose from its holster and began grafting the bone to its steel frame — just another trophy, from another battle won.

It was only later, and far too late, that the first whispers came and the bones revealed their true, jagged purpose.

Welcome back guardians… with the release of Age of Triumph comes 9 new grimoire cards, 2 of which relate to Dredgen Yor. The first is called Legend: Rezyl Azzir – The Triumphant Fall, which relates to directly to yor and the second is called The Shadows of Yor, which is more about the dark guardians, following in the foot steps of yor, which I have previously made a video on.

With the release of the Age of Triumph,  Triumphant Fall grimoire card, it is now very hard to deny that Rezyl Azzir is Dredgen Yor. Something that I speculated upon with the Rise of Iron grimoire cards.

Before we get stuck into why I think this theory is definitely true now, I am streaming Age of Triumph right now, likely running some raids, so feel free to join, I am sure people will be dropping a bunch of lore in the chat.

This is myelingames I hope you enjoy this latest destiny lore episode.

Deathsingers (Daughters of Oryx)

Deathsingers

Character Lore

Oryx was dividing the spawn. He cut apart the larvae with his sword, Willbreaker. The two divided pieces would not die but grew; powerful twins that ascended to wizards, Ir Halak and Ir Anuk The Deathsingers.
(Picture on the dreadnaught, showing worm larvae, overlap)

Welcome back guardians, today we are discussing the lore surrounding the Daughters of Oryx, Ir Halak and Ir Anuk the Deathsingers. I will discuss why Oryx decided to have “sons and daughters”,  how the Deathsingers were created, how the Deathsingers helped create some of the most powerful Hive weaponry (including weapons wielded by guardians), the main purpose of the Deathsingers and also the raid mechanics seen in the King’s Fall raid.

At the end of the video, I have some new artwork for you, titled “Drowned in Blood.” The artwork is available for download on my patreon page, link is in the description. You can skip to any section in today’s video by clicking the annotations on screen or manually selecting the time as indicated on screen.

Stormcaller Warlock

Stormcaller

Character Lore

Whilst some Guardians would prefer to bath in the sunshine peeking through the banners of the tower, there are those amongst us that prefer something more turbulent, a storm. Arc Storms are raw power, power that cannot be controlled but only channelled, channelled through a trance, a trance that few Warlocks can master but those who do.. are known as the Stormcallers. The Stormcaller commands Arc lightning as if the sky becomes wholly theirs for a finite time.

This is myelin games and you can vote for the next Destiny Lore video by either clicking the card in the top right corner or following me on twitter @myelingames. I hope you enjoy this latest Destiny Lore episode.

The Vex understood the power of the Arc Storm, they are practical and focused. They store energy in all its forms and in the Tunnels of Freehold, The Conductive Mind, Vekron, distributes the arc energy, supercharging the Vex Units.

The Iron Lords

The Iron Lords

Charater Lore

Welcome back guardians. Firstly, thank you to everyone who participated in my first live lore stream last week despite the 480p quality :/ unfortunately that is all that my Australian internet can handle, regardless it was still very enjoyable to speak with everyone. I would like to make it a regular event and my plan is to release a lore video and then stream live directly after the video’s release. I will let you know once I have a schedule and be sure to follow me on Twitter to keep updated.

During the stream, many questions were asked about the Iron Lords and this video is in direct response to your questions. I hope you enjoy.

Lord Saladin holds the Iron Banner in memory of the ancient warriors who assisted in the first defense of the city, the Battle of Six Fronts. During the Battle of Six Fronts, four orders of Titans defended the city against the Fallen who attacked from six different approaches.  However, it was not just Titans who defended the city, the Warlock Osiris was present and it should be noted that not all of the Iron Lords are Titans.

Cayde-6

Cayde-6

Character Lore

Welcome back everyone. Today’s episode will explore the backstory of a charming, charismatic, daring, rule-breaking Exo hunter and Vanguard leader, Cayde-6. Many of you are already familiar with Cayde’s reluctant rise to Hunter Vanguard following a lost bet and the death of his good friend and previous Hunter Vanguard Andal Brask. However, what you may not be aware of the events that took place before Cayde became an Exo.

If you want to keep up to date with my video release schedule be sure to follow me on Twitter. Link in the description.

This video will primarily focus on Cayde’s journal entries that are provided with the Taken King Collector’s edition. I have to admit, I had not read these entries previously and it completely changes my opinion on the creation of the Exos. The speculation I presented in the Exo Stranger video would likely have been completely different if I had read these entries first. I am not too sure what to think now regarding the Exos and their creation so please feel free to leave a comment with your thoughts.

Let’s begin.

Inside the journal there is a hand written note from Cayde, explaining that this is his journal and that he wanted you to find it. There are also a number of other interesting items within the book; a black and white drawing, of what I assume to be Saturn’s icy moon, Europa, playing cards, including a Jack of Spades and a Queen of Spades, a Strange Coin and a Sleeper Simulant diagram with treasure map on the back. For those who are new to Destiny, the treasure map revealed a unique code that unlocks an unique emblem. As for the other items, they are significant to Cayde’s story and I will bring them up as the video progresses.

The Exo Stranger

The Exo Stranger

Character Lore

Welcome back guardians. Today I want to cover some speculation about the identity of the Exo Stranger and I wanted to end with some wild speculation about Destiny’s hidden love story. Now I actually wrote this a couple of days ago, in the meantime, Destiny released a Weekly Update that details their plans for a Valentine’s Day event.

This video was never intended to compliment that update and I do not think a Valentine’s Day event will be well received by the player base. However, please don’t let your feelings about a Valentine’s Day event in Destiny taint your reception of what I think would make amazing lore story.

Let’s begin.

My starting point for trying to identify the Exo Stranger, was the Exotic pulse rifle, “No time to explain”. It’s design is identical to the Stranger’s Rifle and therefore a clear link to the Exo Stranger. You receive the pulse rifle by completing an exotic quest line, a quest line that begins with the mission the Paradox, a mission about the warlock Praedyth.

When you complete the alternative ending for the mission the Paradox you discover a chest and when opened you receive Praedyth’s ghost. A ghost branded with Future War Cult Headers. This is the item that triggers the Exotic quest line. Continue reading

Is Eris Evil?

Is Eris Evil?

Character Lore

Welcome back everyone. Today we will explore a very common question that I am asked, Is Eris Morn Evil?! This lore episode ended up being a lot more complicated than expected, mainly because as a main quest giver there is a lot of content that relates to Eris, some of it, completely irrelevant, some of it very relevant, yet easily overlooked. So, if you think I have missed something please make sure to drop a comment. I have also placed references to the grimoire cards, items and mission dialogue in the description.

Before starting it is very helpful to have some background knowledge of the Book of Sorrows, I would highly recommend watching Episode 5 of my Book of Sorrows series, where I summarise everything that has happened so far. The link is on screen and in the description.

Let’s begin.

Where did this speculation start? Well, as the Exo stranger says, “all ends have a beginning” and the beginning of this rumour started at the end of the Taken King Campaign, where Eris appears on the Dreadnaught and acquires a shard, also known as the dark heart [1], from Oryx’s sword, Willbreaker.

When Eris collects this shard, she says this.

“My Queen you were right, the Guardian was the key. For the first time, the whispers are silent, it is done. I have accepted my fate. I will not fail.”

Vision 47 Osiris

Vision 47 Osiris

Character Lore

Welcome back guardians. Today I wanted to discuss new lore that was released with the December patch. The new cards include, Osiris: Vision 47, Ghost Fragments: Ocean of Storms 2, Ghost Fragment: The Exo Stranger 2, Rezyl Azzir- Before these walls. I first saw this news on Destiny Follower. Whilst all cards have interesting components, including a sentence in the Ocean of Storms card that will surely re-ignite the debate about the Worms and the Ahamkara. However, I wanted to focus on the Vision 47 card and see if we can decipher this riddle, which we assume is narrated by Osiris. It reads;

The first comes in a shadow.
A window becomes a door.
An ebb becomes a gulf.
The second comes in bones.
Tithes offering feasts, carrying laws.
A path torn, minds shattered.
The third does not come alone. It cannot.
Our truths woven into their being, desires beyond our own.
The first needs the second to fail, the third needs the first to succeed.
The second will never cease, yet the first always prevails. The third is born of all outcomes.
Unless, all ends flow from the same pit.

I have seen theories that this is a reference to the three Queen description by Toland, however I think this card is referring to something else.
